I'm thinking of starting an 1812 project for SP 2 based on the lovely Perry "Retreat from Moscow" figures, but want to find some Winter Russian infantry for them to fight. Who does the best greatcoat Russians?

Thanks!
Ed

Foundry and Front Rank Reinforcements.

Foundry are markedly smaller than Perry.

Old Glory is a good fit, and with the discount card, the price can't be beat:

I use Foundry Russians and Perry Russian metals and plastics in the same units. The Foundry Russians are later sculpts.

We will have to strongly disagree on OG Russians in general, and their matching with Perry figures, in particular.

+1 torokchar I've seen the OG28s up close & they are very nice. They paint up beautifully!

Concur with statement regarding Foundry Russians. Beautiful miniatures, larger than previous Perry sculpts for Foundry.

Agreed, I use Foundry for most of my Russian foot, but Perry for artillery and cavalry. They mix fine.

As above, the Foundry Russians are completely compatible with Perry figures--Alan Perry sculpted both. You can get an idea of the greatcoat variations available in the picture below.

Greystreak, beautifully painted and composed Russian unit. That's how I like to see them gamed. Thanks for showing them.

In my humble opinion the Foundry-Perry Russians are in fact superior to the Perry ones. I certainly prefer them.

Aren't they just, Condotta. Greystreak's Russians are inspirational thumbs up

The Foundry figures are chubbier and I find the faces are easier to paint than their plastic Perry counterparts. Otoh, being able to paint the plastic backpacks and heads separately means I go through them about twice as fast as the metals.

I support the Foundry winter campaign dress. I have loads of them and they look very good. I think the Russian are the best range the Perry's made for Foundry.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like Foundry it is.
