I posed this in another thread, but it's not showing – apologies if this is a duplicate.

Is the Plastic Soldier British 6 pdr kit still the best option for a US 57mm M1 in 1:72?

Is there a 57mm gun kit out there that comes with an American transport?

Cheers,

Furgie

These are not plastic but really nice kits nonetheless.

I've got the PSC kit and I must say it isn't what I'm looking for. First of all, there is only a 6 pounder gun shield, no American one (the bulges are different). Also the "M1 wheels" which come with the kit are hardly any larger than those of the six pounder. And the two barrels both have flash hiders so they seem incorrect too.

If you need strict 1/72 scale I'm unsure if there is a good solution. There are good 20mm models from Elhiem and Under the Bed enterprises I think.

The 1 1/2 ton Dodge is availble as a diecast in 1/72 from Altaya or some other brand.

The SHQ model is closer to 1/76:

Empress Miniatures have the old AB range of guns – that may cover what you want with regard to the gun but doesn't cover the transport.

Mine are by Valiant Miniatures. Really just British 6-pounder with different wheels and the muzzle-brake cut off.

Got my (metal) 57mms from Early War Mins and Sergeants' Mess do a Dodge 1 1/2 tonner. Both UK based.

Don't know of any in plastic.

esci made a gb 6 pounder gun with crews for the desert, not the best gun model out there and hard to get hold of now.

That is part of the ESCI 8th Army set. It's a bit of a hotch potch – figures in two different scales and hints of a bit of re-scale piracy from Tamiya. The gun itself is a nice model but quite large. Given the variations within the set I am not sure whether it is intended to be 1/72 or 1/76. It is certainly significantly larger than the Airfix 6pdr, for example.
