Very nice. Is that the Hovel building or another given 20mm figures? What rules do you use? I don't see any dice. Matthew |

Just messing with you George. Love your dioramas. 🙂 Matthew |

No dice, no gaming, no thanks. This is the Hougoumont I told you about Joe; glad you like it…………. |

WOW Double G! I'm damn impressed! Peter |
Lascaris | 18 Apr 2016 6:32 p.m. PST |
Color me jealous. What a beautiful piece of work! |

Thanks Ceterman and Lascaris, I had a lot of help with this one thanks to a friend or two on the other side of the pond, true gentleman they both are, the definition of what this hobby is all about……….. |
Milhouse | 18 Apr 2016 7:31 p.m. PST |
Glad to see you got the scaled down version. Lol When you're done, belongs in a museum. Seriously. |
Condotta | 18 Apr 2016 7:32 p.m. PST |
Beautifully painted and composed 25mm Hougoumont by Hovels. 20mm works well with this model. |
Double G | 18 Apr 2016 7:59 p.m. PST |
Thanks Condotta; the beauty of the hovels buildings is they are listed at 25mm, but work well with 20mm IMO…………..Millhouse; I wouldn't have this masterpiece if it wasn't for your advice, so thanks again…………… |

Thanks wrgmr1, I really enjoyed setting this one up, it came out great, a few inaccuracies, but I can live with it………….. |

Interested with where you feel inaccurate. I have been trying to collect every image of Hgmt available on line…many from the 1850s onward. Obviously proportions of garden and orchard have to be a compromise, at any scale! Massive compound. Chateau windows might have been set out differently, as with the formal garden. Everyone mentions the north gate is nearer to the west corner of course. Must say your work is superb |

Thanks Deadhead, I appreciate your comments. I've got French cavalry circling around the complex and a battery of French guns firing into the orchard, I don't think either would have been in those spots. Also, I'm not sure where the Hanovarian and Nassau troops took up positions inside the complex once they retreated back from the woods; I've got them defending theh formal garden, not sure if that is correct………… |

George, That looks fantastic. It is a great show piece. Thanks for positing the pictures. |

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciated it. This has been in the works for over 40 years, ever since I first saw the paintings and chateau layout in the iconic "Waterloo" book I bought as a youngster……….. |

Oh, Double G, I think we will forget those levels of "inaccuracy". I thought you meant the stables were a little small, the windows not 100%, the proportions a bit constricted No one knows where the Hanoverian and Nassau infantry and Brunswick Jaeger folk ended up. Much discussion on this forum recently, actually. Above all, it looks right. The real thing you have to see. If only to realise just how big the whole complex is. It then totally dominated the right flank of DoW's line. LHS is miniscule by comparison. The walled garden, then, further east the orchard (now totally gone, but just as big again as the garden)… and the French should have introduced artillery. They were professionals and I would bet there was a good reason they did not. Not just "EEEH, I never thought of that" I had thought a model in 1/300. Then realised just how big that would have been….. |

Thanks Darthfozzywig, I appreciate your feedback. Understood Deadhead; I drove myself up a wall sideways reading article after article trying to determine where the Hanovarians and Nassau troops were, I just put them in a spot where they worked for my display. And you are correct, I really need to get to Waterloo, it's on my bucket list along with Salute, two must sees for me before it's too late. Thanks again for your comments………….. |

As requested, here are some close up shots of my figures; I've got about 10,000 Napoleonics, they are all metal, I do not have any plastics, not a fan of plastics……… [URL=http://s263.photobucket.com/user/warrior_081/media/Picture%20112_zpsss5zu2t0.jpg.html]
