I like the look of the Perry's Iron Brigade miniatures. Did any Confederates have Frock coats and hardy hats? If so what colour should I pant coat, hat and trousers.
Michael.

1st Regiment of South Carolina sans gaiters. How long they maintained that uniform I do not know.

11th Mississippi as well, if I recall correctly.

ACW Bill is a SME on this. Hopefully, he will see this and post.

Several companies of the 4th Alabama wore such a uniform in the first few months of the war. My suggestion is to paint them with a separate color stand which can be swapped out to Union. The uniform the Iron Brigade wore was the uniform of the US Regular Army circa 1858. It would have been seen in many of the regular army units until August or September of 1861 and the CS militia during the first few weeks of the war. After that, forage caps and slouch hats quickly replaced the regular army uniforms as the more practicable view prevailed.

Thank you ACWBill. Would those Alabama company's be in blue then ?
Michael.
