I always enjoy seeing 28mm Sudan games. This looks great but what I don't understand though is why the Mahdist always seem so obliging in charging a formed line and getting shot to pieces in the process rather than working around the flanks. A lot of the time in the Sudan, in open terrain, the British had to form squares for good reason. That was very much part of the tactics of the period rather than it being linear warfare as many games I see seem to suggest. When I've played the TooFatLardies Sudan rules you can get over run by Mahdists unless you form square. |
