I decided to take the plunge and add some weathering to my North African planes. Not done this before but I think they have come out alright despite an initial panic when the wash on the underside seemed to dry in an instant and I had to scrub a bit to clear the excess off. More details here: link

Well done. The uppers look convincingly understated. Yes, you can wash an excess off if you work quickly. Whew.
