I've recently come across Four Against Darkness (shortened to 4AD) by Ganesha Games. Its a rules lite solo dungeon crawl. You only need graph paper, pencil, couple d6, and the rulebook. I played a couple games today, and I thought it was a fairly decent set of rules for what it is. Anyone else try it out yet? |

As I said in the TMP News comments this morning, I will have to put it off for a few weeks. Yes, I know it's eight bucks, I'm just trying to exercise a bit of restraint. And it soulds like it could be a rabbit-hole that will suck time from already shaky paint project plans. I'd love to hear any thoughts you might have on it. |

I haven't played it yet, but it seems to do a few things I really like in dungeon crawls: * Low level cap. Falling off the useful parts of RNG bugs me. * Morale rolls! * You can talk to and bribe the monsters! Other things I like: * Only uses d6. * Mushroom people. * Hobbits get a bonus to saves against the poison of the mushroom people, which I choose to interpret as a Rat Queens reference. (I doubt it is.) * Short spell list… * …while Clerics aren't fighty wizards with their own spell list, just straightforward access to Healing and Blessing. I'm hoping I'll get a chance to try it out later. |

I recommend printing out the included pocketmods that come in the zip file. They help streamline most of the tables you'll be flipping through. |
