Did Humvees that were deployed to Iraq have unit markings anywhere on them? GIS isn't giving me a clear answer. If so, does anyone out there make decals in 28mm for them?

Also, any advice on stowage in 28mm for modern US vehicles?

You might check out the HBO mini-series "Generation Kill" as numerous Humvees are "stars" of the show. They equip a unit of the USMC First Recon Battalion during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. A variety of markings are evident but in truth there is so much gear hanging on the vehicles any markings would be obscured.

Equipment was jammed anywhere and everywhere. If you're interested in Army, I'm going strictly by memory, but vehicle number is on the right hand bumper (when facing the vehicle) and unit is on the left hand bumper, but the way the unit reads, it's not always immediately obvious what kind of unit it is, and I don't recall right off how it's presented.

For us, vehicle number is the company letter plus the vehicle number, so for example, my platoon has B30 through B48 or something like that. A couple of oddly numbered because of previous iterations, so we have B43 and B43N – they are different vehicles, but one would assume they were the same.

I think the unit ID is by battalion, so we're 2STB, but combat arms would be 1-66 or 1-22 or something similar. (Battalion combined with regimental affiliation.)

Here are two good sites that covers this.
