Inspired by Leadhead, PhD's 'War that Never Was' idea and the excellent 1:2400 scratch building by Austerlitz06 (that is light-years beyond my current capacity), I offer up a few pics of my first foray into scratch building in this scale – the Ottoman pre-dred, Barbaros Hayreddin.

A little background to the project and a 'under construction' pic can be found here: link

Thanks Mark and Nick, I'm doing my best to reproduce and identical one for the sister ship Torgut Reis! Should have thought of that when I was cutting this one out!
Cheers

The scratch built Ottoman and Hellenic Navy capital ships for the Battle of Elli (1912) are now complete!

Hi Alan,
that's a very impressive effort – good work!

Thanks Christian, I appreciate your encouragement! Cheers. Many late nights filing PVC has yielded results I'm quite happy with. As austerlitz06 proves TMP link there is always a higher level of detail one can aspire to, but I'm happy with this first attempt. They fit in well with my Panzerschiffe models too, so am happy with that.

Hulls done for the destroyers, more pictures at the end of the week. Then to gaming!

Hi Alan,

How could I have missed this! They look great, and I'm glad that you've enjoyed your first try. Do not hesitate to add bits and slices of different ABS rods to make more details. :)

And it's so exciting to see yet another unusual but important naval battle being represented in 1/2400 scale. Looking forward to seeing them all in battle lines.

Cheers
Chen

Scratch building is fun. grin

If you are interested Panzerschiffe have several Turkish ships available link
scroll to the bottom L134 is the German Worth class, which you don't need as you've already scratch built the two of them.
L133 is HAMIDIEH they suggest it's also usable for MEDJIDIEH.
