All, I've decided to go full tilt into 54mm. I am doing the Schleswig Wars using the AIP figures. Does anyone sell separate, plastic heads? I am looking for Pickelhaubes and Bearskins. |

London Bridge (USA) or Dorset Soldiers (UK) do separate heads in metal in 1/32(54mm) scale, but AIP figures are closer to 60mm in height. |

All The King's Men produce separate white metal heads for French Old Guard Chasseurs and Grenadiers in Bearskin in their 54mm Napoleonic range.
They also do 54mm heads for British Grenadiers in bearskin in their American War for Independence range.
The Armies in Plastic German infantry in pickelhaub are inexpensive enough that you might pick up an extra box just for their heads. AiP makes ACW artillerymen in greatcoat that might work as European gunners with a pickelhaub head-swap. |

Again in metal – you might try Irregular – their Empire range has Pickelhaube and Bearskin heads. |

Dear Nick, Billy Fish's proviso is sound and need serious consideration. I also had planned some AIP head swops, but did find that "large" 54's are really what you want. So, when you are asking for suggestions, you might include a question about "how big" the 54mm heads anyone has to offer actually are. TVAG |
