Any suggestions for scaling down the measurements for playing Dux Brit in 15mm? I was thinking of swapping inches for centimeters. I have also heard that no conversion is necessary but the zone of influence mechanic makes me feel otherwise. For reference, I am basing the men on 15mm squares, Champions and Status I-II nobles on 20mm rounds, Status III nobles/lords on 25mm rounds, and plan to use mini-dioramas on 30mm rounds for Status IV lords. |

What is the problem with the Zone of Influence? It extends 4" directly to the front of the unit and if you're not going to change the movement distances, what difference would it make? Alternatively, as you suggest, you could use centimetres and halve the ZoI to 2" but as the rule is intended "simply to stop players doing daft things like trying to zoom round a flank from a frontal position" I wouldn't bother and just stick to proper measurements. It doesn't sound as if your bases are that much different from what most people use for 28mm – my rank and file are on pennies (approx. 3/4" diameter) and nobles on two-pence pieces (approx. 1"). |

The 4" ZoI in front of 2.5"-3.5" (as opposed to 4.5"-6.6") of unit frontage just strikes me as off. |

I think the depth is arbitrary – as the author said, it is just to stop players dancing around flanks in a gamey way – and it remains the same depth regardless of how many groups you have in your formation – whether one group or several – so it really doesn't make much difference. I put my groups (which are based individually on pennies) on a Warbases two-deep sabot so the frontage of a group, in 28mm, is less than 3". On the base sizes you describe, you wouldn't be far off. Here a couple of pictures of the chaps in action: Romano Britons:

Thanks. Give it a shot – they are a great set of rules and give a really fun game. You can always tinker with measurements to get to where you want to be. |

Yep I will just try it with the standard measurements at first and see how it looks/feels. |

I've played just fine in 15mm using centimeters in place of inches. It allows for a smaller table which is good for us. Everyone is mounted on US pennies. Great game. |
