As a fanatical adherent of the Byzantine Empire I love it. Serves the venal Venetians right. As a neutral factor, if the Byzantine Empire can survive to modern times, we are intellectually richer for the preservation of all the ancient and medieval Greek and Roman texts that were destroyed in the two sacks of Constantinople.

What happened to the rising Nile? The flooded canals? The flooded crusader camp? The disease and decimation and surrender?
