So far it's #6, but I haven't had a chance to watch many others of that genre. I also like Blue Gender for the war between Mecha and giant bugs – though it takes place mostly on Earth so is not really space warfare. Space Battleship Yamato is a favorite from way back in the early 80's when I watched the original broadcast as Star Blazers. I'm in the middle of watching the fantastic 2199 remake. |

For large scale fleet battles, I gotta go with 3 and 6. Missing from the list is Knights of Sidonia (a Nextflix production) But not really big fleet battles. |

It's 6 for me, but that's mainly because getting ahold of anime is such a . It's either overly priced or unavailable (out of print or no translations). If anyone has a good source for DVDs, I'm all ears. |

boy wundyr. DVDs are hard to get. My solution in the US was to just pay for online streaming from Funimation (which had lots of stuff) and Crunchyroll. For 20$ a year I had lots of stuff available streaming. |
