For 15 years, WD3 has been a beacon for the gaming community. Our 15 year anniversary may not seem much but in terms of gaming forums, it's pretty good (especially if you reckon it in dog years).

Sparked by this thread, I pondered on its longevity.

WD3 is small but the coterie of members (from several countries) get along pretty well. There is a modicum of banter but I think it's strength is that it actually discusses wargaming issues: rules, figures, periods etc.
What do you think contributes to a forum's longevity: what kills a forum dead?

WD3: well worth a visit BTW

15 years, thats pretty good going. I've visited a few times but found it difficult to navigate so never joined up.

Give it another go. We can use some more quality members like yourself (BTW nothing to stop you coming here to TMP as well. Several WD3* members, including myself are quite visible on both sites.

*WD3…I haven't a clue what it stands for. The 3 because we've switched servers three times.

ochoin's right, WD3 is a great forum, lots of good people there. Worth giving it a look if you haven't already.

Wargames Directory is what the WD stands for, the forum that the original crew hived from when it ceased.3 because of iterations.

I tried to set up an account a few times (my latest email records tell me 2013), always got error messages. Tried to contact the sysadmin, never got an answer.

I gave up.
