Meet up with friends. Spend some cash at: Eureka, Dave Thomas and Foundry and then a whole host of other suppliers for smaller things. Make sure I see the games I've made of note of as I usually get home realising that I've missed out a whole aisle or more. Really want to see Bill Gaskin's SYW set-up. Browse the book stores. See the up and coming plastic British on the Perry stand and have a chat with them. Try to catch up with Lardy Rich.I suspect he'll b holding court in the Fox. Oops that at least six. |

Run your game. Man the stand. Meet fellow enthusiasts. But that's me … Now if you are just a visitor … Play at least one participation game … there's always time and there are always some specifically designed games … Then do some shopping .. Have an expensive coffee … Then chat some dreams in a break in the afternoon – Salute is odd in that nearly every great idea I have floated with people at Salute has actually happened … despite all the issues with the venue it is still a very inspiring show that seems to trigger good ideas. I have done these all… Have a good look round the traders, especially the ones you have never heard of before. Go with a plan, then ignore it Have a good look round the games and speak to the people running them. Try and get a few ideas and tips on painting such a large number in a short time. Buy something you will not paint for at least 10 years Bump into old friends (keep doing that). |

Play a game or two. Buy some plastic figures from Harfields. Look around and buy some scenery. Try and find some solo board games and/or miniatures games. Take photo's of interesting setups. And a bonus – see if the SoA can persuade one to rejoin |

1)Not go as usual. 2) See my friend who is going the following Sunday evening 3)Listen to his tale of the long drive down, the overnight stay, the early start, the queues, the scrum as you work your way round the show trying not to bump into/be bumped into others, and then the long drive back. 4) Admire his goodies he's actually managed to buy (by preordering and collecting at the show)and his photos of some games, and the queue to get in. 5)Think how much time and money I've saved by not going for another year. |

If I thought about it in advance, I could've contacted all the people that are still waiting for their Spectre Miniatures and they could've kicked in money and I could've collected the miniatures in person. I personally know several and they would be very happy. Then I could do some shopping of my own. I haven't been to a Salute since 1978. |
