Considering starting Sharp Practice 2. Ed in the Napoleonic era. The many available plastic sets seem to be quite static looking, with lots of march/attack poses. What would you suggest to look for if I'm interested in dynamic poses for skirmish gaming? |

Elite companies skirmishing should provide a good mix of action poses if that's what you prefer. However, even with games such as SP I still think some troop types look best in most game situations in match attack pose so I wouldn't totally discount them. |

The Perry plastic British are in shooting poses if you are looking for plastics. If not a lot of the Perry Napoleonic metals have packs in skirmishing poses. |

Connoisseur and Elite miniatures. Lots of action and movement in those ranges. |

Also Old Glory has a lot of action poses, such as: link link Jim |

The many available plastic sets seem to be quite static looking, with lots of march/attack poses. Difficult to see how someone can be "static" whilst marching to attack the enemy, but I think I know what you mean. Alan Perry's Napoleonic ranges include both line and light foot troops in skirmishing and firing line poses, that should give you what you want (unless you're thinking of the "plane spotters" or "Hi, Mum/Mom!" poses that some 1990s sculptors thought were the bees knees back then). |

Why not go with teh Victrix 54mm for skirmish? They are nice plastic sets. Not too expensive either. |

@Maximus You see my point :-) I'll look more into Perry – they seem to have 'nice' elements for skirmish, such as casualties, as well. @45thdiv Good point, and the mini's are VERY nice!! However, my terrain collection is limited to 15mm and 28mm scales – and no, I will not build another host of terrain IOT facilitate a new scale :-) |

Murawski Miniatures make a variety of skirmishing Polish figures in campaign uniform ideal for Spain, Russia and Germany. Please see a picture of one of the sets:
3 new skirmishing packs have been released in the last couple of weeks. |

1/72 is by far the way to go for this. Go to plasticsoldierreview.com edit: Crap!!! sorry, you specifically said 28mm. I missed that. I committed one of my own biggest gripes!!! |

I would rarely say this, but Front Rank latest releases are superb. Far better proportioned than their traditional work. Some good action poses in light regts for skirmishers. I have just finished a small group of 71st and 52nd. As above look at Murawski too. See what they have announced only today; TMP link No doubt 1/72 better for anything these days…I do admit! But stick with the One True Scale |

The best figures are Victrix and Perry – combining their plastics you have an infinite number of dynamic poses

Surprised no ones mentioned Calpe for Prussians. Stunning figures, beautifully cast and great to paint. Last time I looked at Calpe the opposition in terms of Saxons and French weren't as extensive or animated but still great figures. I'll also second the Murawski Miniatures range. While at Salute I also bought some of the Steve Barber Westphalians. At the moment they are all in march attack I guess you are after firing etc but very nice figures too. |
