The ACW snake rail fence is one of the toughest and time consuming bits of scenery. But it doesn't have to be. The problem is that no one makes a 3D printed version of it. So this is a request to TMP members who either work with 3D printing or know someone who does and would be willing to design the fence for various scales. Anybody know someone willing to do that? |

If it's more cost-effective than me gluing tiny toothpicks to make 10mm fences, I'll buy. |

Don't know about cost-effective, but it might be faster. How do these look? Took about 20 minutes, but I'd need to spend more time intersecting the parts to make them printable.

I would say that A and C are the ones used more often, but they all look great. 28mm hopefully? |

How would you print those? I'm just starting to wrap my brain around designing for 3D printing and that's usually the biggest question for anything I'm working on. |

I will ask for 10mm fences once you get printing issues solved. : ) Duane |

I would buy a lot of the "C" version. Useful for AWI, ACW, and FIW. Matthew |

What about adding another version of C with a stone base? |

@45thdiv: If you have some pics of what you're envisioning, I can certainly give it a shot. @Greenfield Games: I personally don't print them. Once the design is done, I upload it to Shapeways and let people order it directly from them. |

I think you may find a difficulty printing some of those, as the spaces between posts and rails might need print supports, depending upon the type of printer you are using and the aspect/angles you set it up to print in. |

Javelin98: Once you upload them to Shapeways, please post a link on here so we can all order some! Thanky. |

@Darkest Star Games: Since it's going to be printed by Shapeways, I have a hunch that they'll be printed in an SLS printer, which is the kind of printer used for White, Strong, and Flexible. SLS doesn't normally require support structures since the model is embedded in the unsintered plastic powder until it's complete. For the Frosted Ultra and Frosted Extreme Detail materials, Shapeways uses an MJM printer that automatically supports pieces like that with a wax structure, which is then melted and removed during post-production handling. Having seen some of these printed, I'm pretty confident that I can make these meet Shapeways' guidelines.
