A new club will be starting in Dorchester from May 2016. I have booked the venue for second Thursday of each month for a period of six months the dates being – 12th May 9th June 14th July 11th August 8th September 13th October The address is Dorset Youth Association, Lubbecke Way, Dorchester DT1 1QL (their web site has a picture of the hall). We have the main hall which is accessed via the car park at the back of the building. The club will supply tea and coffee with a nominal charge of £3.00 GBP per person to cover the cost of hiring the hall and supplying refreshments – the hall has cups, cutlery even a micro wave etc. We have access to the hall from 1815hrs
Although the hall is initially booked for a period of six months I'm hopeful there will be enough local support to make the club viable (I currently have the option to extend the booking). This is a new club so periods, rules even a name is down to those that attend. Hopefully see some of you on 12 May. Chris |

Thank you those that were able to attend. It was a wet stormy night and at least we know the venue is waterproof! Particular thanks goes to Paul who came from Gillingham, Eric from Blandford, Rob from Poole, Mike from Swanage and Martin from Weymouth. Having not seen Longstreet in action before it looked an interesting game with the Union managing to hold back the confederate tide. I managed to do the dirty on some poor American grunts in Vietnam. Next meeting is Thursday 9 June. Chris |

Good luck little brother, hope the next night isn't a stormy one otherwise you'll have to think about playing Trafalgar. Kiss me Hardy and all that. Hope I can get up for a game one evening. Andy |

Thursday 9th June is the second meeting of the new Dorchester Club. Come along if you fancy putting on,joining in a game or just want to have a look. I'm playing some Wars of The Roses so am bound to need some help. The address is above, remember it is the Dorset Youth Association HQ (which is just past the Dorchester Youth and Community Centre – who entertain and altogether more youthful clientele). Lets hope for better weather! Chris |

Dorchester Club on again this Thursday (14 July). I'm going to be putting on a WW1 game with plucky Tommy Atkins attempting to rush the German lines somewhere on the Somme circa July 1916. It will be a 15mm Divisional level game. Come along, put on a game or just join in – plenty of parking! Chris |

Next meeting Aug 11th, bring a game or join in, I am taking ECW using Peter Pig Regt of Foot rules, players welcome |

Just a reminder the fourth meeting of the club is this Thursday 11 August. Martin and Stewart are coming up from Weymouth to put on a couple of 15mm Regiment of Foote games. These are the new Peter Pig English Civil War rules, Martin is the author of the rules and Stewart one of the main play testers. This gives you the opportunity of trying the rules out with the author present. The rules are grid based and can accommodate different basing systems – so bring along your troops or just join in on a game. Plenty of room for other games – simply turn up and play. See you Thursday Chris |

The next meeting will be Thursday 17 November (NOT 10 November as originally published – my mess up not the venues). Mike is threatening to bring his Byzantines! Decembers meeting is still Thursday 8 December. Once 2017s dates are finalised I'll let you know. Chris |

Great, I will bring along a Vietnam game |
Dorchester Bede | 30 Nov 2016 5:01 a.m. PST |
The next meeting is Thursday 8 December 2016. Please note this is the night of the Dorchester Christmas Cracker which does mean High East Street will be closed. Those coming from the West will have to go around the town centre. From January the club will meet on the third WEDNESDAY of the month the first six meetings being 18 January 15 February 15 March 19 April 17 May 21 June Martin of Peter Pig has kindly added the clubs details to his web site so meeting dates etc can be found on the Local Clubs tab on the Peter Pig web site. It has been suggested I set up a Facebook account for the club, as I can't think of an argument against this I'll be doing do in the near future after consultation with my my internet advisers (in other words when my daughters return from university for the Christmas Holidays). Hope to see some of you at these meetings – lets keep the West Dorset gaming community vibrant. Chris |
