Ordered 15mm figures from a TMP manufacturer. The order included the words "riflemen" and "swordsmen" and "spearmen." Notified by Paypal that the order is pending and may be held for up to 72 hours. Called Paypal. Order is pending government approval because of those above words. I wonder how the guys who order "Spaceships" and "warp drive cruisers" ever receive anything. |

Yea, they're worried about that, but not all the other much more obvious dangers. Another reason to gut their budget. I hope you gave the Paypal people an earful over their policies. |

I got that a couple of years ago. I bought some figures for the colonial Sudan from a guy on TMP. In the paypal memo I said something like thanks for the sudan stuff. Paypal locked my account and flagged the transaction. I had to provide them a detailed account of what I had bought and provide pictures. It was a bit of a hassle. |

good thing you didnt bundle an order for yellow cake! |
Mister Tibbles | 05 Apr 2016 12:55 p.m. PST |
Might be a good idea in the future is to email the order to the manufacturer and ask to pay via paypal outside of the order cart. That way the manufacturer just sends you the total, you pay it, and paypal never sees any of those keywords from a detailed receipt. Thsnks for the heads up. This is just so silly. |

Oh, I gave Paypal an earful. The woman I talked with – and I had the distinct feeling I was talking to someone outside the United States given her accent and that she could not properly pronounce the name of the Arizona town in which I live – made several false statements about Paypal policies. First, she told me the transaction was completed, and could not be canceled. Then, she finally admitted that the order was "pending" and the transaction was not completed, and would not be until approved. She put me on hold numerous times, etc., In other words, as I finally told her, she really had no idea. I did ask her to cancel the order – in response to Mister Tibbles suggestion above – and she told me that was not possible – even though the transaction had not been completed. Made no sense to me . . . |

I just bought a Woodland Pattern Helmet cover using Paypal last night which went through no problem. Have to wonder where there priorities are as my item is in use in current conflicts. |

I had the same problem with some 15mm figures from the Sudan war. It had Sudan in the description….. |

A couple of years back I had to pay the extra "firearm" fee for my son's (disassembled) NERF gun in my suitcase. This was in Chicago, and then when I got to London they tried to make me pay extra – or throw away – the bright yellow stock piece I had in my carry-on. I told them … well, my face told them enough that the short-arse little security nob said he could always call security … but instead I had to race back through lines and change buildings to get it checked under the plane. Then, last summer, we happily carried over a gladius and a Turkish dagger in our checked luggage, no problem … |

Back in the late 1970's, before monsters starting blowing up schoolchildren with suicide bombs, I flew to an AWI reenactment in Virginia, happily lugging my Brown Bess on the plane with me. The flight crew was intrigued rather than frightened. Can you imagine the number of rounds the SWAT team would fire if you tried that today? |

I attended Colours once on vacation, and had three rounds of interviews about attending a convention overseas not held under the auspices of the US government. Whatever you do, don't phone or e-mail anyone, fellow gamer, dealer or manufacturer, and tell them the jihadis or the mercenaries have to arrive in time for the big event on Saturday. |

As with all these issues, its so much easier for the pencil neck civvy pseudo security police types to show how macho they are by harassing clearly innocent people who are minding their own business rather than attempt to tackle real bad hats. That sort of thing they leave to the military! |

The irony is that any actual terrorist with an ounce of brains would disguise transactions involving real weapons or explosives with utterly innocuous code words like "bicycle" and "hard candy." "I need that bicycle and the hard candy for the big party on Saturday." I trust that the real professionals in actual law enforcement recognize this. Or at least I hope they do. |

Paypal has a rule that you cannot pay for guns or gun parts using their service. You had "Rifle" in your description, that probably flagged it. |

My late friend James living in London, once emailed to another friend ,Liam, in Ireland. I'll bring the Bren gun, it's finished' Guess what happened to James at Heathrow. James, Irish though, had been in the Royal Navy and UK Military Police for nearly 40 years. BTW it was a plastic 1/4 scale kit…. |

After 48 hours, I was "cleared" by the powers that be, whoever that is. My 15mm Fuzzies and Ansar riflemen are on the way, and I feel so much safer knowing that Paypal is watching over me and my family. The truth is, Paypal blamed this on the U.S. government, and provided me with a web link that involved me filling out a lot of personal information in order to seek clearance from big brother for speedier delivery of my toy soldiers. I declined. |
