Now, those Garibaldi dragoons…..if you do a bit of filing and have some Greenstuff, they fit in so well with 50 years earlier!

Looking forward to seeing what is coming next for the One True Era, in the One True Scale.

Great imagination shown in your range so far. Anyone who does Gendarmes d'Elite has to be a stout fellow.

Enjoy this Salute thing. Nearest I will get is Upton Park! COYIs……

The day that Salute beats Upton Park against Arsenal (even at 3-3) I will be there. I remember SELWAG from 30 years ago, before I moved oop North…..it was not "Salute" back then. It were half a dozen fat lads, in sweat-shirts, with shiny dodgy model figures back then. Real men……

EeeeeeeeeeeeH. Kids these days. When I were a lad we dreamt of a brush, wi' bristles, to paint Gendarmes d'Elite. Our Dad, 'e'd come in't door…'e'd beat our lad and me black and blue…and e'd say "Whay's tha not finished 't lace on't shabraques?" (funny thing's 'e were Irish anyway, bless his memory)

These days….kids…………don't know they are born……..Blooming junior doctors on't strike too. Eeeeeeeeeeeeh in my day……….

Stan as a boy was a Lillywhite , I remember in his bedroom posters of
Bobby Campbell , Alan Gilzean ,and Arthur Rowe , whoever they were . Also a picture
of Peter O Toole as Lawwrence , then he added a Brigit Bardot life size
cardboard cut out ,he somehow got from the local odeon .
His good friend Jack loved posters of screen sirens such as Sophie Loren .
I can still see his 1966 England World Cup poster with Mr Moore lifting
the Trophy with a toothless Mr Stilles dancing .
Arthur was a little more serious .
In ihis younger days he was a ton up boy , very naughty and he had hair then . Unfoturnatly a bank holiday trip to Margate ended in a rumpus and he gave up his wild ways . The pictures of Gene Vincent clad in black leather came down to be replaced with his new love of British kitchen sink
drama . Saturday night Sunday morning was a particular favourite .
I tended to have musical artists . I loved Lionel Bart , Anthony Newley
and the moody Terence Stamp.

Dearest Che (Ged)
Thank you for your heartfelt words . Just to see your
wonderful Celtic brooding visage full of fire , your piercing eyes ,
your kindly smile , your little wink of passion and your compassionate
air would make me melt with joy .
Your exquisite range of the finest figures in this rather grey hobby of
plastics , blandness and non adventure . They will be the glory
of the show if there is any justice in the world .
Arthur's side car ia rather wobbly at the moment . Also this weekend
salute clashes with our Ballroom ( do the Tango ) annual event , followed
by Bingo . There will be a buffet of brilliance by the local women's rotary
club . As I am a member I have a conflict of intrest . Please understand
I can only do my best . If I come I will bring you some home made crumpets.
I imagine as a young man your bedroom was covered with posters
of stars that reflected your passionate nature . A swashbuckling Errol
Flynn , a dashing Robert Donat , a handsome Stewart Granger , a sexual
Robert Colman to just name a few .
Cheerio

So this is turning into either a Mills and Boon novel, or an episode of Penny Dreadful. As for Ferguson, I am old enough to have seen Jim Standen in goal for WHU.

Come on, we all want to know. How did Salute go?

Did you sell any Mamelukes…..suspect you just might have. Tell them white horses for the musicians anyway!

What surprises are there in the offing? Of course if you tell us now, they are not, by definition surprises………..rats.

jammy four Sponsoring Member of TMP18 Apr 2016 9:48 a.m. PST

Deadhead

Salute went extremely well ………Mamelukes as ever were
popular as did all the New Napoleonics. ..

there is New stuff for the 1798-1815 period in the pipeline
.I may have to hint…!but I know you like a surprise …well apart from the Lithuanian command…that was sprung on me so it was a surprise for us both. !

hope to see you there next year……
cheers

The Lithuanian command idea thoroughly hacks me off. I chopped and greenstuffed to produce an occifer and trumpeter from Tartar and Mameluke figures, to fill the obvious deficiency.

Thought I was dead clever…………

Now you will produce something far better I fear………..OK, I can live with that!

jammy four Sponsoring Member of TMP18 Apr 2016 10:50 a.m. PST

Deadhead………….actually made them with you in mind old chap…cant help it if you have dexterous fingers coupled with lightning speed!

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP18 Apr 2016 12:27 p.m. PST

So where do you suggest I now stick my conversions to create a trumpeter and occifer of Tartars? No don't tell me………

All that work swopping heads. Mind you, one of the Tartar figures (after beheading) is brilliant to become an early Mameluke…the open waistcoat look, with no collar. Just right for 1806…Austerlitz I think they called it. A skirmish before Waterloo I am told

Tomorrow's task…….painting these. A whole day off work!

lucky man..a day off…..looking forward to the end result
have you tried depicting figures in hock deep snow..? with iced up puddles with reeds in……….
