Hi!

I am thinking about starting a blog. How would I go about doing it? Is it similar making a webpage? What costs are involved? Are there places where I can create a blog for free?

Thanks.

Paul

I use BLOGGER.COM

It is easy!

Look at mine:

jim-duncan.blogspot.co.uk

It is free!

Another vote for Blogspot.

Here's mine:

I have a few on Blogspot as well:

ambushedinthealley.blogspot.com
foragecaps.blogspot.com
gamingkorea.blogspot.com

Easy to use, free, and the more you delve into it the more you will find to add to the blog in terms of gadgets and visual appeal.

Blogger/BlogSpot is definitely the way to go. The far harder to determine if you want one big blog to cover all your interests, or two or three blogs on a specific focus.

Not only is a blog a great way to present your hobby to the world, but it's where I keep my to-do lists, future projects, and ideas stolen from other blogs, hiding in the future of blog drafts.

Blogger is very easy and you can muck about with the layout, templates, backgrounds etc to make your blog look good.

Here's mine too: link

I use Wordpress. The only downside is that is is annoyingly difficult to export your blog (say if you want to move hosting services). Not impossible as far as I can tell but difficult.

Blogger from me…

shedwars.blogspot.com

Suggest you set up a dummy blog first before you go 'live', play around with settings, images etc

It really is very simples and intuitive

I use blogger, which never fails and is free. You can also download an App called BLOGSY which allows you to manage a blog from a tablet ….. Much better than Bloggers own App.

I use Googles blogger.com

It very is easy!

Look at my mine:

10mm Wargaming

Wargaming Rules

Free Military Manuals

Take care

I use Blogger and am quite happy with it. I started with The Conflict Cornucopia ( link ) and then branched out one particular interest into its own blog at Oldhammer15 ( oldhammer15.blogspot.co.uk ) because that seemed to be generating interest by itself.

Having used the Blogger app I might have to have a look at Blogsy, mentioned earlier.

The only thing I would add is that I also utilise Twitter accounts for each blog. That way I can post odd thoughts or work in progress pictures which don't warrant their own blog post. I also put updates on there when I post a new blog article. It is very little additional work, but can help generate interest and discussion.

As said before, all of this is free. Just be warned, sometimes blogging can seem like it has become your hobby instead of actually gaming!

Thanks for posting this question. I'm at the end of my patience with Yahoo and am considering starting a blog as well. Good info.
