I am looking at basing for my Hungarian revolution game where 1 stand/base=Battalion, I game 28mm and only 28mm before the 10mmand 15mm pundits suggest their scales lol I am working on 60mm by 50mm bases |

So, if I understand you correctly, you want to have a single stand of 60mm by 50mm represent a battalion? Don't see why not, although I'm not sure what rules would work with that. |

I would say Bloody Big Battles might work…as each unit is usually a brigade, and most units are of 4-7 stands, I would say that might equate to each stand being about a battalion, give or take. Barring that, you could try Volley and bayonet, regimental style, and create as many battalion stands as the regiment had in the field. |

In addition to the above, DBACW would work. I imagine Horse, Foot and Guns would work as well. |

Yes I am using BBB for my 1831 Polish Uprising project, but am happy to look at all suggestions |

Yes, in Horse, Foot and Guns 1 base = battalion. And 60mm width is the normal basing standard for 28mm. |

Any Napoleonic rules with that basing will work. |

1859 et al use battalion bases too. HFG uses brigade bases. Are you actually after rules suggestions, or suggestions about basing? It isn't clear from the OP. |

We used the same basing for our 1866 game using Grand Tactical (Bruce Weigel) rules. We playd 1 inch = 4cm.

"Rule suggestions" OK. Then 1859/1866/1870. Fire & Fury. It would probably easy enough to adapt brigade level Shako (with brigade units and battalion bases) to 1848. You could also use any of the 'generic' sets which are a big vague about unit scales like Black Powder or the Neil Thomas Nineteenth Century rules. I usually treat units in the latter as Regiments, so each stand would roughly be a battalion. The Thomas rules are actually pretty good and include army list etc for 1848, amongst other things. As ever, if you are using 'big' bases you may need to adjust ranges, move distances etc. HFG woudl work fine too, but as noted above, bases are (small) brigades. |

Decebalus, what is the depth of the infantry bases? |
Decebalus | 05 Apr 2016 10:25 a.m. PST |
The same depth than you use. 5 cm for infantry, 8 cm for cavalry and artillery. 6*5cm is IMO the perfect size. It has enough depth to make something aestetically pleasing and at the same time it looks like a rectangular and so like a unit. |

I am currently painting up armies for the 1848 Hungarian Revolution and using 1 base is equivalent to approximately one inf battalion or cav regiment. I plan on using the BBB rules set which our group enjoys playing. Oh my scale is 18mm (Blue Moon minis). |
