The work on my 28mm Western town continues though at a slower pace than I wanted and I am now pushing for time. The first shop is mostly painted and ready for final modifications, as well as the other two are coming along.

You can check it out here on my blog: link

Enjoy!

Awesome – thanks for posting! Reminds me of "The Power Shop" by Matell! Great memories!

Every house in the neighborhood I grew up in was painted white. I used to go with my grandmother to the corner hardware store and buy a block of something white we used to mix up whitewash to do the stone walls of the basement. A watery mess! We used oil base paint on the house both inside and out and house painters had shortened lives from breathing the fumes. The Victorian era folk loved bright colors but on the frontier I wonder if it was either bare boards or whitewash because of cost. We whitewashed a garage once and the area and ourselves got well spattered too. I have a pic of a French Foreign Legion trooper in Somalia in the 1990's painting rocks white at their base. He is covered in the stuff and it has to be old fashioned whitewash judging from his appearance and the type brush and bucket used. Very cheap and goes a long way. Has to be why the entire part of the city I grew up in every house was white. Started with whitewash and went over to longer lasting paint because white was habit. Maybe it was also the same reason roof shingles were light grey, to reflect the sun and ease the awful heat of our summers in the time before air conditioning. God I am getting old.
