The polls are rubbish….& yet many of you read them (I'm looking at you Mute Bystander who often posts the first comment on a poll). In many ways the polls are the best thing about TMP. They're light weight, often amusing, only very occasionally revealing. They involve a representative sample of TMPers and give a fleeting (& mostly incorrect) sense that we inmates are in control of the asylum. They are the Musical in serious theatre. The action flick in Art House cinema. The half-time entertainment in a grand final.
Anyone taking them seriously should be flogged with a limp stick of celery. If they faded off the scene, I would miss them. |
