Does it work? Can you use Crossfire rules? |

We did WW1 in 20mm, using modified Crossfire. We use Mud & Blood from Too Fat Lardies now for WW1 & have even done some WW1 with modified Bolt Actin. Both in 28mm. Peter board2deathterrain.com |

No reason at all that it wouldn't work, but you'd need a pretty large board for 54mm. |

A friend has a Stalingrad set in that scale, ran Crossfire with it at a Historicon. Amazing buildings. Admittedly,he had to climb up on the tables a couple of times, but it should certainly work for WWI. You'd have to make up some pretty big disruptive terrain,of course. |

I do it in 54mm the trick is to have lots of features to block line of sight. I use gas and fog as well as shell holes |

We do trench raids on scratch built terrain, using converted plastic figures (AIP mostly but all sorts of others too.) Our own rules, which have gone through various incarnations. Great fun, with lots of idea which stop 'wargamer omnipotence' in the confusion of the trench system (the player can see where it goes; the character would not be able to – getting lost happened!) We ran the games at various shows, and even at the National Army Museum, where it was a great hit with the visitors. Have some photos somewhere, will dig them out and post and/or post a link.
