Printing Scenario Maps with Poster Software

You've got a scenario map, and you need to create some hills. Is there some way to just print out the map in very large scale, so you can trace the outline of the hills you need to build? The Editor finds out...

For me in New Zealand the Perry sets are half the price of the Casting Room/Foundry six figure sets. GPB5.83 v GBP12.00. Are those Foundry/CR miniatures twice as good or are their miniatures made with some gold instead of lead?

Perrys are definitely one of the better deals out there, despite needing a bit of clean up.

Foundry have some very good ranges (eg the ACW), but sometimes the casting is poor and there's nothing new on the horizon. They're also hellish expensive.

Perry are overall better figures with growing ranges. They're also decent value for money, if a pain to clean up. They're also more versatile in that some ranges have packs of spare heads etc.

I have figures from both companies for ECW and ACW and overall Perry win, but I still love my Foundry ACW even though I shan't but any more.

Stick with Perry, obviously.

At $3.00 USD per fig in the 6 figure packs, they charge in the same ballpark as a lot of dealers. Some cost less, some cost more. There 8 figure packs come in at $2.25 USD per figure.

I've always thought that historically Foundry are at the top end of the price range and Perry at the bottom. I say good on the Perrys for not fleecing us. They could charge more, sell less but make the same profit. I'm very thankful they keep their prices very reasonable.

Somewhere on here Allan P did say how many castings go out in a week and it was an astonishing number.

If my tiny orders are anything to go by I think Perry are improving their casting quality. Does anybody else think the same? Or perhaps I've been lucky getting figures off the first spins in the life of the mould. Far less runners and worms. The metal seems a bit softer so I wonder if that has helped.

I'm looking at getting some more Foundry Pirates but if you think they are expensive at £12.00 GBP a pack take a look at NorthStar – £23.00 GBP for a pack of eight pirates. There are two packs I want so I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Yes the Perry are tops Foundry on the other (who's ranges is made mainly of Perry sculpting) and old ranges to boot (not knocking the quality though, love my ACW and Sikhs) are not cheap. I think the Perrys will re do all the ranges that Foundry have eventually and that will be that for Foundry.

I have several different armies from different manufacturers. Also a few from Perry and Foundry.

Currently I'm painting some Perry Hanoverians for 1815, and I really love these miniatures! On top of that, they are much cheaper then Foundry. I used to buy a lot from Foundry, but that is ages ago, mostly because their pricing.

Northstar is also way too expensive, I believe.

I also still don't understand why fantasy/SF miniatures must be more expensive then historicals.

The price difference between fantasy/Sci-Fi and historicals has generally been seen as down to the difference in volume of sales. Historical figures tend to sell in larger quantities so can make money on volume sales, whilst fantasy and Sci-Fi figure customers buy in smaller quantities, so manufacturers have to charge more to make production economically viable.

I was looking for figures for a unit of Naval brigade for my Zulu war British. The Perry Sudan range comes in at less than half the price of the corresponding figures from Casting Room/Foundry. When you are budget conscious that makes a hell of a difference.

Perrys are definitely one of the better deals out there, despite needing a bit of clean up.

Apart from some horribly twisted muskets that I was afraid of trying to straighten for a long time I have not had any real issues with anything I have brought from Perry Minis. I have only purchased Carlist War and Napoleonic figures so far.

Foundry ACW is my all time favourite historical minis range, love them. The Perry's range is a close second for obvious reasons. If I had started collecting ACW recently I daresay the order would be reversed, for the above mentioned price reasons.
