Our 1/72 Staghound Mk I kit was reviewed by Mr. Giovagnorio. The preview was published on onthewaymodels.com.

Well thats looks rather smart :)and a well written review too.
Unfortunately having the Millicast one just arrive and an RMP one on the way its a Bleeped text.
Was only last week I was asking on here and searching Henks site for a Staghound. Only need the one to make some crew figures afterall. Timing, timing is everything lol

I have been tempted since I read the review on On the Way but closed hatches are a bit of ano-no

Kungfucius,
Ah I hadnt noticed that, good point, prefer mine open as well, or at least the option.

I believe ModellTrans have a Mk I turret in resin, touted as a more correct alternative for the RPM(?) kit, and this has opening hatches.

As an aside, can anyone confirm whether the drum-like long-range fuel tanks were standard in NWE, since I've also seen a stowage box fitted to the same place on the hull side.

Leon
you know how it works
I had all those nice kits to build but they had no crews. Then I bought a few millions of hatch figures and now I need open hatches when I buy a new kit otherwise all those fine AB Figures (and Blitz, Battlefield, Milicast, CP Models, TQD, Lamercraft etc) miniatures will go wasted.

BTW I am glad to learn you are progressing with your Panzer Lehr, I definitely need to add to my zillions of still unpainted Germans.

laretenue,
Oh thanks thats good to know, hopefully the RMP is ok to just fettle a little.
As for fuel tanks have seen a pic somewhere where one is 'missing' but from choice or damage no idea.
All I need to do is find my Vangaurd book…………. might answer the fuel drum question as well.

Kungfucius,
Indeed timing is everything lol Like you I prefer my vehicles with crew, finishes them off properly I think. Then again I make figures so I'm likely to think that way.

I think the criticism of the kit was that the turret was misshapen, but others may be wiser than I.

This arises at a coincidental moment for me, since I've been mulling the best choice fr my Armd Car SHQ veh in 1/72. Other choices I've noted are Blitzkrieg (again no open hatches and it's a Mk II – but I wondered whether that ModellTrans turret would solve both problems)and 20mm Zone. Anyone else got any more experience of these?

laretenue,
Been away from the smaller scale vehicles for a good long while. You have hit upon an interesting point, the scarcity of a/c for Allied forces. I have had the Lucsh from ModelTrans and lovely it is so can recc the quality.
Think SHQ do one in metal, Staghound ( might be Daimler). Not sure if its 72 or 76.
20mm zone stuff looks very nice indeed.

NeucraftModels,
Just realised how much we 'highjacked' your thread, very rude.
Sorry in anorak mode………..
