I was doing a Tremors Marathon and had some thoughts

During the "Wrong God Damn Rec Room" scene the Gummers pump six magazines of 5.56mm, probably a dozen rounds of 12 gauge, somewhere between 12 and 20 rounds of heavy pistol ammo, a flare and 2 elephant gun slugs into the Graboid before it dies. That is a hell of a lot of damage!

There is a comment that "Things like this only happen in the middle of no where". But what if they didn't? A Graboid infestation in an urban area might be hard as hell to deal with (even if they don't turn into Shriekers or Ass Blasters). They will be almost impossible to track with siesmo-monitors. They can bust into basements-right through cinder block walls.

Sounds like an apocalyptic scenario to me. evil grin

you would think with all the underground infrastructure (swears, subways water lines etc) there is in a major urban area that grabois would have a hard if not impossible time getting around

A lot depends upon how deep they can go. Some cities don't have much that is very deep, others like New York or London do. Even with that there will still be a lot of open volume

could all the underground vibration actually render them 'blind' and unable to hunt?

which could be why "things like this only happen in the middle of nowhere"

There's potential here for an "Attack of the Awful Green Things" style scenario at a construction site. No guns or explosives, but plenty of things to fashion into creative new weapons: shovels, picks, hammers, rakes, jackhammers, welding torches, saws, drills, lumber, rebar, steel girders, cement, cinderblocks, piping, electrical cabling, pickup trucks, dump trucks, tractors, steamrollers, frontloaders, cranes….

Give each tool a draw from a "random effect" card deck, then let players get creative about how to combine them. Could be fun.

Yeah, I can see them in urban areas, but a city would be too difficult for them. Too much concrete and steel.

It was easy for it to go through the cinderblock wall, but when it hit that concrete ditch…

but when it hit that concrete ditch…

imagine it hitting a steel I-beam at speed

…through cinder block walls.

Right; some of our cinderblocks are steel reinforced. ;->=

Most aren't, but I'd want to roll for a possible 'twang!'

As for London, it gets better. There's a lot of building down.

On the other hands, even someone walking about drives them into a frenzy; noise of a city would probably be more than they could handle.

Concentrations of noise seem to repel, as they're found in desolation. Or was it water? I've not seen too many of the sequels.

What if it was a hybrid grabiod? Then all that other stuff would matter ☺

War Monkey27 Mar 2016 6:27 p.m. PST

Wouldn't

Darn auto correct!😠

Could be a future where people have to live in cities and out of rural areas… but Graboids and fly and walk too. Then you have the tv show…things could spread…

Mithmee28 Mar 2016 1:02 p.m. PST

Would not matter since they would still up like they did in the movies.
