I plan to run a Magnificent Seven game at our local convention on Memorial Day weekend. I have experience with Desperado, Legends of the Old West and The Rules with No Name. All are fine in their own way, but all tend to bog down in a big crowd. I plan on having ten players. Any suggestions on the best rules for a crowd -one that will keep the players engaged and not waiting for their card/turn to come up?

Nick,
Take a look at "Fistful of Lead". The rulebook actually has a couple multi player scenarios. Also "Shoot and Skeedaddle"

I have played in Fistful of Lead games with at least 8 people. They play quickly and provide a very good game for a group. I agree that it would be great for this. If you look at Jaye's blog you will find lots of games for FFoL with great pictures.

Another vote for Fistfull of lead. THE activation system keeps everyone in the game.

Ok, you can go down to his directory and pick up fistful of lead stories, but try this.

I'll put in a vote for Dead Man's Hand. My group has been running 8 player convention games since just after it came out. Each player runs a single boss-level character, and we don't allow recover actions. Other than that, rules as written. Works great!

Here in Texas it goes like this. Get Drunk start shooting. Thats the rules.

Desperado, now sold by Knuckleduster. A nice set of rules.

Thanks for all the input. I went with Fistfull of Lead. I downloaded the rules and joined the Yahoo group. The rules even have a Magnificent Seven-esque scenario. I have not tried Dead Man's Hand. I have Desperado and they are fine rules but I think a little too detailed for my purposes this time.

If you like Necromunda/early WH40K as a mechanism, I wrote a set called Westumunda (yes, I know). Plays well and you can modify with whatever initiative system you fancy. Once players get their heads around the mechanisms, you can play rounds very quickly.

Used to be on the Freewargamerules website. Also in Necromunda Yahoo group files.

I'd chime in for Gutshot, but if you're not familiar with the system, it will bog down with 10 players.
