DETROIT, MI, March 31, 2016 -- Gaddis Gaming, makers of the successful TableTopper and Out-Of-Play Zones (OOPZ), is proud to announce that we will be the producer of 28mm metal miniatures for WWII gaming. We have acquired over 800 individual molds and are ready to begin casting the six major nations of WWII, including the Italians. The entire range will start through KICKSTARTER, which will see enough funds raised to start casting from the molds we have already acquired. After this we will continue to develop even more figures for Wierd WWII game play, a favorite genre of ours here at Gaddis Gaming. (In anticipation, we have just finished the concept drawings for that figure line). We have our own casting facilities right here in the US and enjoy established and productive relationships with figure sculptors at Battle Honors. We will produce new lines and infantry figures as demand dictates. We will also produce artillery/mortar figures. link |

Great deal? 2.50$ each for old Battlehonors sculpts..? Am I missing something? |

So are they old Battle Honors figures or someone else's? |

So the old Battle Honors minis are no longer available? Because it seems you can get the exact same thing here, and for what looks to be cheaper. link Weird. |

Exactly, so I'm confused-? If Gaddis bought the range and have their own casting facility what would the backers be paying for-? |

As clearly stated in the second paragraph, the KS is to raise funds to cast miniatures using the molds they have acquired. Having invested capital in acquiring the molds, surely we can understand the need to ensure demand before putting in additional capital? Having said that, I don't see what incentives people have in backing this project and paying higher prices when a cheaper source (i.e. Old Glory) exists, unless Old Glory will no longer be distributing Battle Honors 28mm WWII when its current stock runs out (or existing molds wear out if they're casted in-house). This could a referendum to see if an old line like BH can still be viable in a competitive 28mm WWII market in which we're spoiled for choice. |

Here we go again! A situation confusing enough as it is,and then names like "Old Glory" and "Battle Honors" get tossed in indiscriminately, making an even bigger mess. "Old Glory Miniatures" and "Battle Honors/Old Glory 15s" are two different companies, for a start. The latter is also "19th Century Miniatures",so let's at least try to keep them apart. Old Glory Miniatures has never carried the BA line. |

I don't get it either. You have the molds. So start producing. You can make them to order. I don't think these guys understand the historical gaming market. By the way don't blame the public for confusing manufacturers. They brought it on themselves. It's called product identity. These particular companies could solve the problem by consolidating their products under one name. I always thought 19th Cent. and Battle Honors were the same company. Why is there one company that sells OG 15mm and another one that sells OG 25mm? It is confusing. |

I agree that the companies are at least partly responsible for the confusion. When Russ sold the Old Glory 15mm line to the Steves (and someone else may recall the exact date),they were,I would suppose, in a position to change the name. But then, they were the same figures;would a name change have caused less confusion? And "product identity" works both ways--everyone knew what Old Glory 15s were, and what to expect. Just be glad that when Russ started producing 15s again,he chose "Blue Moon",instead of something like "Old Glory 15mm". Of course, none of this has anything to do with this Gaddis Gaming deal.It sounds as if the molds they bought were from whoever had them in England. I don't know if the Steves would be affected at all. It would be an odd situation if two US companies were producing the same figures. But,again that is just a guess,I'm as in the dark about that as anyone. The press release,if that is what it is,doesn't say where the molds came from, and all I saw on the site was requests for money. The BH lines are still on the 19th Century site; so the only other place to get them would be England. |

"As clearly stated in the second paragraph, the KS is to raise funds to cast miniatures using the molds they have acquired." The demand was/is already there with a pre-existing range of figures that have been available for years. I understand your point: I simply don't see this as a viable KS. "I don't get it either. You have the molds. So start producing. You can make them to order. I don't think these guys understand the historical gaming market."
Exactly. |
