… Coast of Spain, 1810-1814.

"…Nick is delighted to announce his latest work – a study of the epic struggle on Spain's eastern front during the Peninsular War. Often overlooked as not an integral part of the Duke of Wellington's main army operating on the Portuguese border and in western and northern Spain but, in point of fact, the two fronts were intrinsically linked. To the Spanish, the east coast was a matter of national survival; the ports of Tarragona, Valencia, Alicante and Cartagena sustained the nation, fed the people and the Spanish military machine. To the French, failure to gain early control of the east coast was cited by Napoleon as one of the principal reasons for the defeat of the Grande Armée and the loss of the War. To the British, the east coast was a necessary and cost effective distraction but, by 1812, it had become an integral component to Wellington's plans and, in the end, it held the key to the successful invasion of France.
Wellington's Eastern Front is being published by Pen & Sword and will be available from November 2016…"

Thanks Armand. This is a much less known part of the war in the Iberian Peninsula. I may have to put it on my "wanted" list.

This looks both interesting and excellent.

Lots of interesting Allied troops there too, including various Italians (Italian Levies, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, etc.). Great for those wanting to paint unusual units.

Thanks for the advance notice, Armand. This is going on my wish list.

Damn! We have wait until November? Gratification delayed, not denied.

It appears this book was originally a 100 page booklet which was available in 1813, but has now been turned into a book, which I'm assuming should contain more than 100 pages.

The original booklet was titled: Wellington's Forgotten Front. The East Coast of Spain 1810-1814, published by Gerard Books. At present, a 2nd hand copy of the original is available via Amazon for £8.00 GBP

Yes; it's gone altogether on the US Amazon. I got it when it came out a couple of years ago and look forward to the expanded version

Cheers,
Phil

No, it isn't.

It is listed on Amazon US here:

The question is, get the shorter 100 page version now, which might not have that much in it, or wait for the larger version which hopefully won't just be a padded out version of the original.

But, considering his other works seem full of info and details, it bodes well for the bigger version.

Ah, Kevin. You thought, perhaps, that I couldn't look up a book on Amazon? When I posted it was not available.

What an interesting chap you are! (Smile)

Cheers,
Phil

Kevin is correct. I just checked out the Amazon Uk and American sites. The 100 page book Wellington's Forgotten Front is being shown as available from both sites. But I think there is only one second hand copy available for each.

And the question is, will the new version be expanded or padded out? Time will tell I guess and it will no doubt make its way onto my list.
