I was wondering what the main reasons were for gamers' projects failing? That is, from deciding you want to do a certain period or game, what things in the past have stopped you from doing so? Certain possibilities have suggested themselves: A. I bought lots of models but couldn't face painting them all. B. On examination, I just couldn't afford it. C. I couldn't find a set of rules I liked. D. I lost interest whilst I was painting up my forces and moved onto something else. E. My opponent(s) who I was doing the project with moved away. F. I couldn't interest anyone in my gaming circle to play it and I don't like playing solitaire. G. I couldn't find any figures I liked / were suitable. H. Not applicable, I have brought every project to fruition. |

C D E F J. Analysis paralysis because I can't settle on a figure scale. My #1 problem. |

C, D, and K – gave up trying to put together the appropriate forces from 16 different manufacturers L – only half of what I need is available – the rest is out of production or outrageously priced M – lost interest when kickstarter kicked over into second year past expected delivery date |

J. Analysis paralysis because I can't settle on a figure scale. My #1 problem. I think this has been my bane time and time again but not only with scale but with too many varied interests. For example just fantasy alone I have the following projects, all in various states of progress. Warhammer Warmaster 15mm home campaign 1/72 home campaign 6mm home campaign Middle Earth Dark Sun Battles 28mm home campaign Mantic campaign Warmachine mass army campaign Game of Thrones campaign Dragonriders of the Styx Battles It's nuts, I know and it's the same for late 19th century, steampunk, ancients, medieval, ACW and 20th century to sci-fi.

C is a big one for me as well as D or a lack of time which puts the project in that gulag of the back burner to be done "Some day". |

It depends how you define fail. I'll usually finish something I start. However, I often don't get started (analysis paralysis or other priorities). When I've finished something, I often lose interest in it and move on to something else. Maybe I'm just a collector at heart:) |

It's nuts, I know and it's the same for late 19th century, steampunk, ancients, medieval, ACW and 20th century to sci-fi. Just too many cool things out there today! |

I think "Ohhhh! Shiny" is the bane of most projects. I have enough to keep me going for years. Having an event seems to distill the creative juices enough to make significant progress. I need to create some events to poke in the right direction |

The single point of failure with past projects has been reliance on other people. I fixed that up a long time ago by doing both sides plus all the terrain because the only person I can rely on is me. Since then no project fails. They just take longer. |
