Hi Guys,

I just added pictures of my latest finished commission onto my website. I painted the Prussian High Command at Waterloo from Perry Miniatures. I rather like how they turned out. They will be on their way to Italy soon but I wanted to make sure I took plenty of pictures before sending them off.

Please follow the links below to more pictures ;)

Field-Marshal von Blücher: link

The Prussian Soldiers were not as colourful as their French counterparts and I was concerned that with all the grey's involved it would make the Figures look a bit bland but Blücher's heavily folded Grey Coat with its red lining is a real eye catcher. I really like how it turned out.

His Coat was painted using Reaper's "Stone Grey" Triad whereas the Trousers of all the Prussian Officers were painted using the "Neutral Grey" Triad also from Reaper. The Lining was painted using two Triads from Reaper which work very well in sequence: "Blood Red" and "Fire Red". Using these six paints will make mixing intermediate shades unnecessary as they can be used straight out of the Bottle. The Überrock and the Cap was painted using Foundry's "Prussian Blue" but I applied additional Highlights and Shading as I did for the Calpe ones before.

I used Foundry's "Arctic Grey" Triad for his Horse and Coat d'Arms "Dark Grey" Triad on the darker parts of the legs.

Lt-Gen. von Gneisenau: link

His Coat was painted using Foundry's "Granit". For the silver Sash I used for the first time Reapers "Shadowed Steal" Triad. I quite like how it turned out. I used Coat d'Arms "Leather Brown" for his Horse. the Blue collar was painted using Foundry's "Tomb Blue" Triad.

Maj-Gen. von Pirch: link

Pirch's Uniform was painted using the same combinations as above. I used GW Dark Flesh, Blood Red and Blazing Orange for the Red of his Collar and on the band around his cap. The Horse was painted using the Foundry's "Bay Brown" Triad but I added further highlights with "Chestnut" B.

The figures were all mounted on 2mm thick 25mm x 50mm MDF bases using sand, various grass tufts and a dusting of MIG pigments "Dark Mud".

Hope you like them. Please let me know what you think. All comments are welcome.

Kind regards

Sascha

great painting, I agree that the great coats of Prussian generals could be eye catchers, but I think your source misunderstood the generals great coats of 1813 – it had a huge collar, which was dark blue when turned down – and red when put up, the cape itself was in my opinion not lined but instead the front of the greatcoat itself, the cape was immensely long

later in 1814 the style was alas changed a bit and the turn down collar became a simple red standing up collar – not any longer an eye catcher compared to the 1813 ones

Thank you all for your kind comments.

@ von Winterfeld
Thank you also for the info. Couldn't really find anything useable when I looked for reference. In the end I took some small artistic licence. ;-) based loosely on two pictures I finally found.
