An 18th.Century German depiction of The Moloch Idol (Der Götze Moloch):
from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moloch Supposedly, children were to be sacrificed by putting them onto his palms, and they would slide down into his body, in which a fire burned, akin to the way people were tortured and killed with the Brazen Bull. The death cries of the burning children were drowned out by loud flute and drum playing. *Shudder* |
