Managed to get a first batch of Spartans finished today. Lovely Xyston figs. Sorry about the photos – my old point and push camera broke and I haven't worked out how to use my wife's good camera yet!

Nicely done Aaron!

I like the massed rank look, very daunting to face.

Nicely done

Nice high lights on the red tunics. Love your bronze color, what did you use?

Lovely.
I've been given a big pack of these figures but, as I have enough Spartans, I've decided that I'm going to re-purpose them as Thebans.

Thanks for the kind comments, all.

Wargamer 1: the range I use is mostly Turner Acryl Gouache. For the bronze parts I put Tamiya smoke on the gray undercoat, use the Turner Antique Bronze for the base coat, and then Turner Gold Light for the highlight.

I used to use the Gunze Sangyo metallics but the Turner is much easier on my brushes and probably looks a bit better too.

Cheers,
Aaron

Wonderful figures and looking good.

Thanks for the information Aaron, I've never heard of Turner Acryl Gouache before. I'm a fan of Liquitex.
I'll have to try the Turner.
