Whilst there are probably insufficient Danes, Finns, Norwegians et al to support separate boards, it would be beneficial to provide a forum to discuss gaming in Nordic states other than just Sweden. So the suggestion is to change 'Wargaming in Sweden' to 'Wargaming in the Nordic States'.

Lupulus11 Mar 2016 4:36 p.m. PST

Thumbs up from this swede.

Weasel11 Mar 2016 4:44 p.m. PST

Support that as a displaced Dane.
We could call it the Kalmar Union :)

Perhaps some of the other boards should be rationalized: for instance, the Wargaming in Belgium and the Netherlands Board could be expanded to include Luxembourg (no, really, there are six members from Luxembourg, four of them active).

tkdguy12 Mar 2016 1:01 a.m. PST

I'm all for it.

Lt Col Pedant12 Mar 2016 2:43 a.m. PST

…Meanwhile, in the dis-United Kingdom, we could have separate boards for England, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland; perhaps the Home Counties, and (if they count) the Away Counties.

I agree with this proposal,

Mute Bystander12 Mar 2016 4:02 a.m. PST

Would post or read myself but why not?

Pertti12 Mar 2016 4:31 a.m. PST

IIRC, people have asked Finnish related stuff in the Sweden Message Board, therefore I agree.

janner12 Mar 2016 5:20 a.m. PST

Thanks for the support guys. Now how does one go about setting up a poll?

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP12 Mar 2016 5:53 a.m. PST

Bill puts up a poll some time in the future…

Rittmester12 Mar 2016 6:07 a.m. PST

I support it.

I would support it, we had a Danish king or two in the past…

coopman13 Mar 2016 5:44 a.m. PST

Fine with me.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP13 Mar 2016 9:54 a.m. PST

I would support it, we had a Danish king or two in the past?

And soon you will have one again, the long ships are amassing. This time armed with sea sparrow missiles and bofors 40mm auto canons, the vikings are wearing plate carriers, armed with HK 416s and supported by Leopard 2 tanks!

Weasel13 Mar 2016 11:57 a.m. PST

If we combine our forces, we'll have Swedish heavy metal bands, Norwegian oil and Danish beer and pork.

How could we lose?

According to Wikipedia:

The Nordic countries are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic, where it is most commonly known as Norden. It consists of five countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) as well as their autonomous regions (the Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland).

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP14 Mar 2016 2:08 a.m. PST

At at verious times Scotland and Estonia wants to be nordic countires!

Personal logo DWilliams Supporting Member of TMP14 Mar 2016 8:57 a.m. PST

I support this change. There are over 9 million Swedes, which makes this the largest Nordic state. On the other hand, if you add up the populations of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway, they outnumber the Swedes 3-to-1.

janner14 Mar 2016 11:46 a.m. PST

Yes, that's why I thought Nordic more appropriate than Scandinavian, Bill, especially as the longhaired gemeral is a Finn wink

Thanks for the support, chaps. In these days of parochialism, you are a beacon of brotherhood – both native born Nordics and blow-ins such as myself thumbs up

Old Contemptibles Supporting Member of TMP14 Mar 2016 12:38 p.m. PST

Nordic STATES. I immediately thought of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.

Thomas Nissvik05 Apr 2016 6:20 a.m. PST

Great idea. Where I sit, in Stockholm, it would be quicker and easier to get to RopeCon in Helsinki or DFFCon in Copenhagen than to GothCon in Gothenburg, an still that is the only show we regularly attend.
With a Nordic board we could inform each other of such events.

capncarp12 May 2016 9:23 p.m. PST

It's a trap! This is the rest of the Wargaming World's fate if the Norse reunite!

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP19 May 2016 2:45 a.m. PST

Thats totaly unrealstic, vikings never used those weapons, warhammers and renesanse axe!

What is this? a Mel Gibson viking movie!

capncarp17 Jul 2016 11:36 a.m. PST

A furore Normannorum libera nos, Domine,
("From the fury of the Northmen deliver us, O Lord.")
Quick, hide the gold, hide the women, hide the sheep! (although last time, we _did_ benefit from the flock's increase afterward, and the lambs had such cute blonde hair!)

Toy Soldier Green17 Jul 2016 11:56 a.m. PST

Only a remote Nordic lineage going back ages and having been to Norway once, so I am qualified to say Yes.

I've been proposing at "Great Northern War" board for years, so I'll use this opportunity to make my appeal.

Sparta05 Aug 2016 4:23 a.m. PST

I am for – would love to have even more contact with other groups outside our own i Copenhagen – much of Sweden is closer to Copenhagen than the rest of Denmark :-)

keithbarker16 Aug 2016 5:52 a.m. PST

'Wargaming in the Nordic States' sounds good to me.
And we could even let Scotland join, when they leave the UK in order to stay in the EU.

Aquahog08 Sep 2016 10:32 a.m. PST

DWilliams, the combined population of the Nordic region minus Sweden is around 16 million.

ArchdukeOfSoderort08 May 2017 1:44 a.m. PST

Hi! Totally new to the Hobby except some Warhammer FB in my early teens. Are there any good nordic miniature shops for historical miniatures? Also are there any organizations in Sweden/Stockholm that I could join? :)

ArchdukeOfSoderort08 May 2017 1:45 a.m. PST

With nordic miniatures shops i mean online shops that ship for free or cheap to Sweden. :)

Thomas Nissvik09 May 2017 3:48 a.m. PST

Archduke, based on you user name I am guessing our club in Älvsjö might be closest for you?
