Waiting patiently for a large KS to ship (I am in wave 8 million… Okay, slight exaggeration,)and I wondered when you hit the wall of "How much longer?" 1) Why isn't here NOW? 2). When it is 100% of the expected time and it has not shipped? 3). When it is 150% of the expected time and it hasn't shipped? 4). When it is 200% of the expected time and it has not shipped? 5). It's toys, adults can delay gratification! 6). Wait, I ordered something? And it is here? 7) No Kick Starters, thank you! 8) Whatever… |

2, 3 & 4. I've been waiting for Goodman Games Grimtooth's Ultimate Traps Collection for what seems like foreffinever. I also realize that a KS isn't "Amazon" and that you shouldn't treat it as such, expecting to to get your order right after you pay for it, but waiting for weeks or months over the expected ship date is a bit ridiculous and frustrating. |

Kickstarter and waiting, where have heard this before? It is one thing to produce and distribute say a 100 items, it is an another thing to produce and distribute several 1000 items. Basically, little things that will delay the 100 items by a few days to a month, now grows to a few months to a year. I have been doing some reading about kickstarters lately on items that have nothing to do with the gaming hobby. There are some good write up about what causes delays and even the failure of kickstarters that do really well. I would say that as long as the individual or company is keeping up with communication, that is letting know what progress has been made on the project and how they are dealing with the delays, I believe they will intend to deliver. Yeah, I know, in mico wave age, waiting and understanding delays is becoming harder. This think what the app age will do to our ability to wait! |

7 and yes I agree with Miniature Ships the thing about Kickstarters is that you are funding a project that has not begun. Folks need to realize this and know that no plan survives first contact with Chaos Theory or Murphy's Law. It is the up to the individual or company to keep the lines of communication open. But even before setting up a Kickstarter the promoters of such need to make sure they are setting a realistic deadline for delivery then push that out at least a third or half as long further to cover the inevitable hiccups that will happen. Personally I feel I can wait and pay the additional cost of seeing the final product actually go into production before I am going to "invest" and hope that I will eventually see the final product. |

7 – why take a risk, if you want it buy it when (if) it is ready. |

The real question is when does the suspicion that I'm never going to get anything for my money overcome my hoping something comes. For me it can vary considerably based on communication, complexity of the manufacturing process, and initial expectations. I have become frustrated at a month or two past due and am patiently awaiting others that are a year past due. And as to just toys, the money I paid was real enough. |

I usually add a month or so if its a smaller project. If it's huge, I won't buy on kickstarter. |

7 – why take a risk, if you want it buy it when (if) it is ready. If you want it soonest, whenever the KS ships, it will be ahead of the distributers and retailers. And you don't have to do the preorder/camp out thing at your FLGS. Also, the KS is usually at a discount. And there are often KS exclusive bonuses. And some things may not ever go into production without a funded KS. So basically, you're getting it (and a bit more) sooner for less than you will at your FLGS. Without the KS info and comms, the thing would arrive at retail stores at the same time. You would just see it on the shelves in September and never know it was planned for the prior July. ----- Are there a lot that get funded but don't deliver? I've only been interested in four of them. They came pretty much on time. |

5 and 6. 6 is really funny. All the sudden you receive toys you didn't expect. It's like Christmas! |
