Earlier on I put a link up to my blog with a review of the Perry's British Light Dragoons. I've now finished these and the pictures are in my latest blog here:

Very nicely done, I'm working on the earlier versions from the set. I'm impressed with them, nice figures and good choice of parts in the box.

Always loved the look of the Light Dragoons uniform. Very nice painting.

Love that buff – really came up well. What colours did you use please?

I agree with ironicon, great styling on this uniform. Lovely paintwork, well done!

OK let's say what is really good, so we can really learn from this.

Like Marc said. The buff…..surprisingly not that easy to get right. So tell us more.

The margin twixt wrist and buff cuff, the white crossbelt against the buff facings, the rosette on the front of the shako……like the sniper in SPR…."This guy has talent"

I'll forgive the trumpeter on a grey. Why not? It looks great. I would do it…..OK I know……but it does look good

Have we seen these before, painted to this standard? Is this a first? Have the Perry lads seen this???????????

Those do look very nice indeed! I have this same box ordered and hoping that I'll be able to paint the 14th. light dragoons 1809.

HI there, thank you for your kind comments. The Paints are all Vallejo. So the buff is 70976. I use a 'lazy' technique that seems to work well for me. I block paint the figures over a grey undercoat using all vallejo acrylic. I then use Army painter quick tone that is painted on – Dont dip! Once dry, the figures are matted down with Army painter anti shine varnish. The final step is to go back over the lighter colours, the buff & white in particular but also the metallics and repaint them, carefully leaving the shade caused by the quick tone. It sounds like double work but some how the final coat is easier and the depth of colour makes it all look so bright. I hope that this helps.

Cool. For some reason your blog doesn't open properly on my iphone, so i miss all the rhs text which means I means I miss a lot of what you are doing

I use the dip (painted on) but haven't re-painted the whites but looking at your work I think I should
