Ok.. not quite miniatures but rather handy for RPG games or even victory point tokens for SAGA etc the Viking coins look nifty!

They have a lot of other sets too. Please note I have no link to the KS organisers. Just rather like what they are offering.

I'm intrigued too, I was thinking last night of ways to use this in miniature gaming, since I don't RPG anymore (although never say never). Came up with three uses, besides general coolness:

1) As activation chits to draw from a bag for games like multiplayer Song of Blades and Heroes.
2) On table markers, such as the location of treasure/clues/plot points, or to note when a unit or figure has done its activation.
3) Tokens to indicate number of activations/commands (e.g. 7TV) or amount of "power" saved. Or accumulated VP or XP. Or for bidding games, like some (or all) of the Polemos rules.

I just need to decide which ones to get, I could rationalize quite a few of them! I was just thinking about fake coins in games a few days ago after hearing how one game used them, so now my musings have run into reality. This could get expensive.

I think the "Capital" ones look more Victoriana than the "Steampunk" ones, for VSF gaming. Then there are the historical ones, the fantasy ones, Cthulhu of course…

Look nice, but I have bought real 4th/5th century Roman coins for as little as $1 USD at coin shows. Haven't checked in a while, but people used to sell bags of uncleaned ones 100 for $60. USDCheck coin magazines or websites. Maybe not the kind of thing you're looking for,but there's something to be said for being able to hold a 1500– year-old artifact in your hand.
