Merely assuming that if the Bleep-o-matic no longer bleeps it does not mean it's no longer punishable.
I said the word and I did the time.
There are many combinations that do not get bleeped, yet are still objectionable.

As I keep saying in the context of "politics on TMP", only punish for bad behavior.

Those who voted to not automatically bleep "anatomical words" should have thought it through. Now they aren't bleeped. Just punished.
I find the arbitrary and capricious approach to naughty words merely amusing.

The naughty s-word was removed from the Bleep-o-matic as the result of a poll. This is what you get. The BoM used to protect the naughty. Now it doesn't. Is that so hard to figure out?

So now at least 4 people have gotten the DH for using the s-word.

Does that suggest anything? Assume the BoM doesn't exist, and is not here to protect the guilty.

Bill has change a TMP policy, failed to properly warn of the change, and is entrapping, and publicly persecuting violators of the change.

The other editors should review his conduct, and if they act appropriately, would dawghouse him for a period of at least two weeks, as he is clearly conducting himself in a manner that is not in the best interest of the membership or TMP.

This is hilarious, and the fact that ANYBODY is actually getting upset about this ridiculousness is even funnier.

As for failing to properly warn, the results of the poll were printed.
There is no hope or help for people who turn off polls and TMP talk.

So Bill ran a "rigged poll" to mask his desire to remove "the S word" from the bleep-o-matic? Why? If he "…does what he wants…" he could have done it without asking.

Look, this is not hard at all. It's disingenuous for anyone here to pretend that they do not know that the word in question is profanity. It's also well known that this forum bans the use of profanity. It matters not if the "bleep" feature is catching the word or not. You all know it's wrong. You all know the rules. If you drop the word in a post, then you are deliberately breaking the rules and should get your DH stay.

If a word is profane or offensive or is something that you would not say in front of your mother or put in a professional work document, then it's not acceptable in an environment that bans profanity.
It really is that simple.

Surely everyone here has the intelligence and maturity to express themselves without resorting to profanity, right?

I'm actually kind of glad that Bill nuked the "message from Gunfreak" thread. Allowing someone to bypass a DH stay by having a buddy post content for them just makes the DH even more meaningless than it is now. He probably should have gone a step farther and both reset Gunfreak's DH timer and put the guy who posted the message for him in the DH as well.
But I'm harsh that way. ;-)

This may be one of the stranger series of DH'ings.

Usually, when I see the DH fill it, it's from the same thread because people got riled up about some thing or other (inevitably completely unrelated to gaming).

Why would anyone want to make the DH "meaningful"?
It's nothing but a timeout. That's it.
It's not punishment or anything like that.
But some people seem to REALLY be into punishment I guess.

Who actually needs a "bleep" filter anyway? One should be capable of self control in what you type/say. I can't ever remember having the "bleep" feature block a word in one of my posts. Other's millage may vary of course…
