I work in a place where there are a lot of contractors coming in as customers, and I've noticed that Brown Duck canvas cloth is extremely common wear. It's distinctive brown color looks interesting to me, and I'd like to get a paint color in order to replicate it on some of my old west figures. Problem is, I don' t really know which color to use. Can anyone recommend a paint color to replicate this cloth?

Any light brown to tan will work. The color hides dirt but fades pretty quickly. I wear these kind of clothes for outside work. One jacket faded to almost linen color.

Raw Sienna is pretty close depending on figure size. But as Cold Steel says, they fade to a light khaki soon enough.

Also remember, the smaller the scale, the lighter you want to color.

Any specific modeling paint color suggestions? I would prefer Vallejo, but I'm not that picky about other manufacturers.

I use Americana Raw Sienna, thinned over white primer on 25mm figures. If you use a different primer or figure size the results will vary. Americana Milk Chocolate is a darker but similar shade. For a deeper shade you can mix in a bit of Americana Burnt Umber.

Hope this helps.

What about Vallejo Light Brown? Can anyone tell me if that might work?

After experimentation, I am now using Vallejo Brown Sand to replicate Brown Duck.
