Hi All, I am new to this group so hope I am posting in the correct place. Can anyone help me? I am looking for Medieval Archers, in plastic (scale 1/32 or 54mm) to buy and paint for a castle I am making. Not too expensive as I need a few. Does anyone sell these? Thanks.

Search e-Bay, Amazon.com, and Google, using your parameters: 1/32 Archer, 54mm Archer. You should find both plastic, and metal results. You could also search for 1/32 Viking Archer, or 54mm Viking Archer, as other search parameter examples.

With regards to painting these plastic figures, I would suggest painting only those parts of the figures which differ from the plastic's color -- use the plastic's color to your advantage. Then, I would suggest apply The Dip to them, to bring out the details, as well as shadowing them [search YouTube for it, to see demonstrations; paint it on, rather than actually dipping the figure, using a paper towel to soak up excess pooling, before it dries; I recommend Royal Walnut (dark, dirty, brown), or Tudor (black)]. Quick, easy, block painting with craft acrylic paints will work just fine. The Dip will really make them look decent at arm's length, for very little time, and effort. It will also preserve the paint. A dull/matte clear coat will fix the shiny finish.

Putting them on a simple base, painted with Wood Glue, then dunked into a mixture of three colored sands (two shades of green, one shade of tan, regular colored; available from Michaels, and dollar stores), will really dress them up, with little effort. Apply some Scenic Cement to the dried sand bases, to seal the sand in place. Cheers!

The archers by Expeditionary Force look nice.

I have some of their American Civil War figures, and am quite impressed by the detail.

Those are nice …

For my 54mm Bosworth game I used a mix of old Britains plastics and Italeri, plus some of the excellent Irregular Miniatures metal ones …

Combining metal and plastic, old and new, has kept the project cost down while adding variety.

Didn't Airfix used to make a 54mm set of medieval foot in soft plastic? I seem to remember there were some archers in that.
