If you have codes I will ask Mirliton for you. There's a good chance they will be available

The only company I know of that made 1898 Italians and Ethiopians was Bicorne. They are still available

Would these be the old Strategia e Tactica line?

And before S&T weren't they sold through Wargames Illustrated (was it under the Tin Soldier brand name)? I remember the photos of those in old issues--looked like a very characterful range of figures.

They were labelled Trent Miniatures, advertised and sold trough Wargame Illustrated..after having seen those same nice picts that you mentioned i pested the Editor of WI (Including IRC) to order some samples…and never received an answer..
that was the origin of my decision to produce my own miniatures for that period…probably the second manufacture of wargame minis to see light after Mirliton here in Italy..(Mirliton never made Italian Colonials and Abyssinians for the Adwa period.).here are some of my minis painted and from the collection of my friend Piero:

You are right,I was thinking of S&T. Oops.

And I was thinking of Trent! Knew Tin Soldier didn't sound right…

I really like the figures in your friend's first photo. Great looking troops!

thanks…it had been a work of passion..but i sold quite a few of those minis also in USA..i remenber one of my very first customer (think it was in 1998) was a Reverend/teacher who ordered me about 300$ of minis with the goal of making a big diorama and explain the Adwa period to his students..i also produced some Italian Colonial Askaris and, just before Foundry came with this same idea, a Darkest Africa initial range (i had in mind exactly what then WF made) with slaver, tribesman and Congo Askari:

I asked about the Strategia e Tactica line because I have a list I'd be happy to post, if it is of any use.

Gerry Webb at Castaway has some very nice figures for the period and he may also have the Cannon Fodder range.
