Hi guys

Struggling to find info on the uniform of the trumpeters of the 3rd Uhlans of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, any help would be grateful.

Cheers
Dan

G'day, Dan.

From Wojsko Ksietstwa Warszawskiego: Ulani, Tom 1:

White kutka with crimson lapels, turnbacks, collar and cuffs, piped white and with white metal buttons. White gauntlets cover the cuffs. White fringed epaulettes with brass crescents and scales on strap, white retaining straps on the kurtka. Blue overalls, two crimson stripes on the outer seams. White Chasseur-a-Cheval busby, very similar to 11 above but with white cords and white-over-crimson (top 3/4 white) falling plume. White sheepskin shabraque edged crimson with yellow piped edge. Trumpet brass, cords white (no surprise there). Belt and buckle as in 11 above. Horse harness black with white-metal fittings. Valise blue with NO edging or regimental number on ends, white retaining straps. Mounted on greys.

According to the same source the uniforms shown above for the 2nd are good, 7th should have a white kurtka, not red (traditional colour for Polish musicians), in 1812 the 16th had crimson lapels and mixed crimson and white fringe to the epaulettes and the 20th had an orange over white over blue plume.

Hope this helps.

Dal.
