You might check around for the Starship Troopers Micromachines link I think some of them would work pretty well in 15mm |

For Exosuits: link Low/Mid-Tech Insurgent Humans in Ballistic Vests would be good for Light MI from the movie. link The Mid-Tech Humans in Full (Carapace) Body Armour on the same page would work for MI from the Roughnecks Cartoon. |

gzg but the bugs have parrot beaks. |

Don't hold your breath for the Aranae figures. They've been on 'preview' status for something like 4 years, and there's no sign of an imminent release. |

We did starship troopers back in the 80's utilizing Citadel's Traveler figures and plastic Bugs. I think the Traveler range is still being produced by RAFM. |
Buckeye AKA Darryl | 23 Feb 2016 9:12 a.m. PST |
The Traveller/Striker range is indeed still being produced by RAFM, who happens to have a 30% sale going on right now: link Khurasan teases us with several fits and starts to figure lines. Regardless, with the Intruders (i.e. Skinnies), at least one can do true book canon Starship Troopers. I have ZERO interest in the movies…just pure crap when it comes to Heinlein's classic work. |

WOW. Just terrible figures… |

john lacour, Which figures are you referencing? |

I always thought the GZG UNSC Hardsuits looked like how I envisioned the real Starship Troopers would be equipped, based upon the novel. They're excellent sculpts. I suspect you could go with various plastic "bugs" for the bugs. Those sold by various shops might be pretty useful. and far less expensive than metal, or resin ones, e.g. those shops selling nature toys, and/or your local equivalent of the old "5 and dime" stores, now. |

I think JL is referring to the RAFM figs…they are MUCH better in person…and really hold up well to some of today's sculpts. I am re-reading ST for about the twentieth time, and while I love the Khurasan Earthdoom range, they still do not feel like book figures for me. In reading the raid against the skinnies, it sounds like the suit was much closer to man size based on how it fit into the shell and how the other troopers could interact with each other (Jelly checking health stats with a push of a button on Jenkins' suit, Ace and Rico making the pick up on Flores, how tight Rico describes the fit within the drop shell). The skinnies wore no clothing and were 8-9 feet tall…from a Khurasan suit perspective I am not certain if a trooper would care as the Khurasan suit is huge! Not sure if that makes sense what I just wrote, but a trooper in a suit, based on what Khurasan offers, would tower over a skinny. I do not think that is the case in the book. And the bugs should be eight-legged creatures with weapons for soldiers. The Khurasan offering looks correct, and yet it is the one thing they do not have out yet! :) Those GZG UNSC look good, but I do not see a Y rack (I could be missing it). I like the GZG NSL power armor better:

I got tired of waiting for the Aranae and settled for using Khurasan's other offerings (no flying bugs yet; have some, but have yet to take a brush to them):

KJdidit, How did you make that terrain? It looks fantastic. |
BlackWidowPilot | 25 Feb 2016 3:25 p.m. PST |
Well, these are 1/72 scale, but they were based upon SST the novel in no uncertain terms:
If you can go with 1/72 scale Cap Troopers, bug size can be rather relative as long as the bugs get the job done… Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |
