I got the snow look I wanted, and bought a can of W&N Matt spray, but now I realize I really have nowhere to spray, except in a Florida garage. Normally, I would experiment with brush-on varnish, but I don't want to muck up the bases--has anyone sealed anything like this with a brush? thanks!

I'm in Orlando--looks like I will need to confiscate the utility room temporarily. Thanks, skipper! |

Woodland scenics sell a spray bottle of "scenic cement" This is watered down matt acrylic medium – you can get a better deal buying a large bottle of matt medium somewhere like Hobby Lobby with a 40% discout. I would spray bases using a piece of card to cover the figure. If it does go all over the place, it is still just matt medium which will be fine with matt figures. I use the pipette with watered-down white glue at the moment to harden the flock etc. so it can be drybrushed. I varnish with an airbrush after that. I use the Vallejo RC Matt varnish which is a water based polyurethane-acrylic varnish diluted ready for airbrush. This is impossible to get locally because it is not correctly labelled for sale in California, but can be had mail order Pipettes can be bought cheaply on Amazon or ebay if you look around a bit. Pipette and diluted white glue (litte bit of flow aid or detergent helps) I think would work best for you. Let us know what works out for you John |

Use matte or clear acrylic spray. That is how I gave sealed my figures for years. |

Use matte or clear acrylic spray. That is how I gave sealed my figures for years. I hold the figs over an old waste basket and spray down into that. It keeps the spray from going anywhere else. |

Spry on matte or acrylic. Uses over an old waste basket to contain the spary |

Spray with Flat or Matte sealant . Do it over an old waste basket as that will direct the spray downward and keep it in the basket. Been doing this way for over 215 years. |

Thanks for all the great suggestions! As it turns out, I waited for a "cool" morning and sprayed them with W&N Matte in a rattle can. Satin probably would have been the way to go, but I couldn't avoid hitting the figures. |
