OK, I have submitted my scenarios for the con.

On Friday, I'll run a famous frigate duel; HMS Tartar vs Melampe. In 1756, the British launched the first frigates designed specifically to help rid the channel of French privateers. By 1757, the British frigate Tartar had made such a name for herself, capturing eight privateers, that the port of Bayonne fitted out a more heavily armed frigate, Melampe, to hunt her down and end her career. On November 1st of that year, they met in single combat, a duel to the death. This will be a two-player game using 1:900 scale miniatures and the "Captains Bold" rules.

A "Captains Bold" game looks like this:

On Saturday I'll run fleet actions using the "Admirals" rules and 1:900 scale miniatures. I have two scenarios planned; which one I choose will depend on how many players sign up:

1. Action off Havana, 1748.
The final action of the War of Jenkins' Ear. A squadron under Spanish Admiral Reggio mistakes the British Jamaica squadron under Admiral Knowles for a merchant convoy, and ends up fighting for survival. This might be the first time a battle from the war that has become a punch line on TMP has been presented at this convention. Certainly, it's the first one I've ever done, but it probably won't be the last.

2. Battle of Minorca, 1756
The Marquis de Galissoniere's fleet is blockading the last British stronghold on the island of Minorca, and Admiral Byng must break through to resupply the besieged fortress. Galissoniere can win by driving off the British fleet, while keeping enough of his ships intact to maintain the blockade. Byng can win with any result that doesn't get him shot by his own government.

An "Admirals" game looks like this:

The rules for these games, by the way, are available free of charge on the "Rules" page of my website:

If all else fails, do the Action of Havana on Friday night at NavCon in October.

As we discussed last we, this has to be presented.
