With the release of our "second edition" American Revolution figures (see the news story running now, 02/13/2016), I'd like to follow up with posts about the individual figures and sets in the line to give each some more attention.

picture

The first focuses on our infantry at attention, one of the poses available on our Recruit Your Own Regiment menu. You get to handpick the poses that comprise a set of troops, and choose the head set(s) that accompany them.

The green for these figures was converted from our "first edition" British grenadier (which is still available). The head was removed, as were the uniform trappings of such elite soldiers. That makes the pose more universally useful.

Obviously I painted this set as British infantry with green facings -- the 24th Foot as general inspiration -- but these bodies and heads could be used for all manner of regiments.

Here's one of the bodies as a casting.

I used a smattering of heads in tricornes available from ATKM to try to show as many as possible in use.

This pose perhaps lends itself best to a unit of infantry (12 + 2 command in the ATKM rules). You could use them in whatever arrangement and for whatever rules you prefer, of course.

These figures are 54mm metal and come UNpainted. A set of 14 infantry is $40 USD from us -- reasonably comparable to what you might pay for 28s. We try to keep our prices low because we know 54mm is a departure for some wargamers, so we try to offer more size, not more cost.

You can check these and all the other figures available in our AWI line on the following page. We also offer 54mm terrain, wargame rules (self-titled), and game accessories -- everything you need to get into the scale or our game.

These are just beautiful. For now I only have collections of Colonials in 54mm metal, but your ranges definitely tempt me to begin a new period. I'll look forward to seeing your future posts!
