When building a company of troops for a ww2 game, how many infantry figures do you like to have on the table?

This question assumes that the game uses some sort of group-stands (teams, squads, platoons) and NOT a 1-to-1 skirmish game obviously.

A: 5-10
B: 11-20
C: 21-30
D: 31+
E: I only ever play 1-to-1.
F: I only play games with beam guns, spears or funny hats.

Personally, most of my team bases are old Crossfire bases, now used for FiveCore. I did 3 figures per squad and 1 figure for the platoon leader, so 30 figures to a company. (in 15mm).
When I redo them in 10mm, I'd like to do 4 figures per squad.

E, Company strength in 28mm on my 8 x 4 board, just enough room for manoeuvre. If I'm doing 15mm might push to 2 Companies.

I play Battlegroup and CoC 1 to 1, and Fireball Forward with three or four men per squad base.

E. I have between 90 and 120 per company.

Use rules which are 1:1

E for me too. Sorry, I'm no help as usual.

Rapid Fire (A).

E, usually, so 120+, give or take support units.

Might consider D, with 3 – 4 man "squads" for some squad level rules.

A – another Rapid Fire player

An unexpected lot of 1-to-1 players :)

Yeah, I'm surprised at how many. Thought we'd be the minority.

We have developed several sets of rules in the past. Some used one stand per squad for the 6mm micro arm our games. Others were higher such as one stand for platoon and even one corps level set of one stand for a company.

I do anything from one stand per team, to one stand per regiment, so a company is wildly variable.

When basing 15mm at least, I usually aim at building a full company around team elements. So a platoon would typically have around 30 figures, a company 100+

But if I am using one base per platoon, a company would have three stands and around 8 figures.

1 to 1 in 28mm.

When building a company of troops for a ww2 game, how many infantry figures do you like to have on the table?

Anywhere from less than 1 to about 100. it ENTIRELY depends on the rules.

B or E – my usual preference is more or less 1:1 (I Ain't Been Shot Mum, which has units slightly below "book" strength, so typically 80-100 figures for a company) but I'll occasionally dabble in Blitzkrieg Commander, using a 4-5 figure stand for each platoon, so 12-20 figures per company.

Tend to play at about 1:10 (for a battalion on the table) or 1: 3 (for a company on the table) so B and D respectively.

Umpapa11 Feb 2016 5:52 a.m. PST

E. Even if batallion scale.

Col Durnford11 Feb 2016 9:36 a.m. PST

A – Rapid Fire as well with 20mm

E – 28mm Modern/future

I like 1 stand = 1 platoon.

4 figures, or 3 and 1 support weapon, per stand.

As many stands as that company has platoons.

So then I like:
G: Whatever the figures/platoon-stand math happens to tally.

1-1 for me too!

Mute Bystander12 Feb 2016 7:06 a.m. PST

F: I only play games with beam guns, spears or funny hats.

Pretty much this if I run a game anymore.

HidaSeku12 Feb 2016 4:07 p.m. PST

1:1 at battalion scale as well!
