Very important as they own Airfix… link 'The share price closed down by 50p to 31p.' That kind of drop doesn't bode well for the future of the company. |

But see also the following: "The Kent-based company said while UK trading was expected to improve in February and March, sales would still be "significantly" behind previous expectations." link |

Going to depend more on 'Hornby said it was now in talks with its lender, as the scale of losses could see the firm breach its banking agreements.' more than sales, I think, and telling the banks that sales 'would still be "significantly" behind previous expectations."'is not a way of getting a positive response. |

So – buy Airfix now while you can – or better yet, don't postpone that purchase and keep them afloat…. |

Rough news especially considering that Hornby has dramatically improved the quality of the recent (aircraft) kits I've been working on. |

If their sales are as poor as their customer relations I am not surprised they are in difficulty. About a year ago I made an inquiry suggesting that many miniature painters are interested in tins of primer paint (enamel) in black, white and possibly brown along with their existing gray. Would they consider making these primers. I even offered to conduct a poll on TMP if they wished. After months of being pushed from one person to another, I was assured that the last person would deal with my request. Well that person acknowledged my email and said they would deal with my question but that was it. Despite repeated monthly email reminders for six months ….no response. I went back to original contacts… no response. All I was after was a yes or no it was not worth their while. Instead I got the 'if I ignore this person long enough he will stop sending emails' modus operandi. It is symptom of a badly run company and it is a shame because they have a good product line. |

They've made a number of serious mis-steps in the marketing of their model trains in recent years. Some very arrogant calls on channels to market, restricting reviewers, reduced advertising, etc, demonstrating very poor judgement. Quality of their product has improved dramatically but it seems to have been accompanied by rising arrogance. |

I am not qualified to say how a business should organise itself or operate, but I do live in the misty eyed, rose tinted glasses world of simply wishing this company does survive, for reasons of nostalgia as much as anything else. I hope sales from their Airfix wargaming sets (due out in May) helps in a reversal of fortunes. |

This has been a major thread on the RMWeb (railway modelling) over the last few days. It appears to me that it's been a case of bad management decisions over the last couple of years. |

The ruls are a licensed product. They have no interest in wargaming. And there is no traditional retail outlets left so they will struggle Sad. Maybe if they reintroduced the authentic colours of my child hood |

Well why would you buy a dreadfully inaccurate 1/76 AFV when you can get better and cheaper elsewhere? Simples. |
